MASTI-DRY

For   the   prevention   and   treatment   of   mastitis   in   dairy   cows  (including  heifers)  at  the  point  of  drying-­off,  that  immediately  after  the  last  milking  of  the  lactation  in  order  to  treat  existing  mastitis  and  to  provide  protection  against  further  infections  during  the  dry  period.

- The  preparation  is  an  useful  aid  in  reducing  the  risk  of  summer  mastitis  in  dry  cows.

Intramammary  (I.M.M)  infusion.

- Drying-­off  therapy:  immediately  after  the  final  milking  of  lacta-­tion,  introduce  the  contents  of  one  syringe  into  each  quarter  at  3-­week  intervals  via  the  teat  canal.

- Summer  mastitis  therapy:  prior  to  the  first  calving,  whilst  at  risk  of   summer   mastitis,   introduce   the   contents   of   one   syringe   into  each  quarter  at  a  3-­week  interval.

- Wash  teats  thoroughly  with  warm  water  containing  a  suitable  dairy  antiseptic.  dry  the  teats  thoroughly.  milk  out  the  udder  completely. 

- Use  an  alcohol  swab  provided;;  wipe  off  the  end  of  the  affected  teat  using  a  separate  swab  for  each  teat. 

- Insert  tip  into  teat  canal,  push  plunger  to  dispense  the  contents.

- Gently  withdraw  the  syringe  and  massage  the  quarter  to  distribute  the  medicine  into  the  udder. 

- Following  infusion,  it  is  advisable  to  dip  all  teats  in  an  approved  antiseptic  teat  dip.
