Han‑Compost – Microbial Technology for Treating Livestock Solid Waste in Hung Yen
Han‑Compost – Provincial S&T Project on Microbial Technology for Treating Livestock Solid Waste in Hung Yen
On January 27, 2026, the sectoral Science and Technology Council of Hung Yen province held an acceptance meeting at the Hall of the provincial Department of Science and Technology for the project titled “Research on technology for producing microbial preparations for treating solid waste in livestock husbandry in the province,” implemented using state budget funds and led by Hanvet Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.

Project overview and objectives
The project is part of the 2024–2026 provincial Science and Technology Plan of Hung Yen and aims to develop industrial‑scale production technology for microbial preparations that treat livestock solid waste and convert it into quality organic fertilizer.
The acceptance meeting was chaired by Ms. Nguyen Thai Kieu Ngan, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hung Yen and Chair of the Acceptance Council, along with experts from the National Institute of Animal Science, Hung Yen University of Technology and Education, and Vietnam National University of Agriculture.

Participants and implementation units
Attendees included leaders of Hanvet Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., the Sub‑Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine under the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, representatives of units under the Department of Science and Technology, the project management board, and livestock farms and households participating in the demonstration models.
At the meeting, MSc. Tran Van Khanh, representing the project management board and research team, presented the main results and technological solutions developed during the project.
Technology development and microbial strains
The research team focused on optimizing industrial‑scale production processes for beneficial bacteria of the Bacillus subtilis group, lactic acid bacteria, and the fermentation process for producing Saccharomyces cerevisiae as microbial raw material.
Based on these optimized processes, the team established a pilot production line for a microbial product used in treating solid waste in livestock husbandry and deployed it in three treatment models at farms and livestock households in Hung Yen province.
Industrial‑scale production of Han‑Compost
The project completed and issued production processes for powder‑form microbial preparations for treating livestock solid waste, including industrial‑scale processes and quality standards for Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, Pediococcus acidilactici, Lactobacillus paracasei, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Three industrial‑scale pilot batches of a powder‑form microbial product named Han‑Compost were successfully produced, totaling 1,515 kg of finished product.
Testing conducted by the Institute of Biotechnology under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Center for Technical Standards, Metrology and Quality 1 (Quatest 1) confirmed that Han‑Compost meets microbiological criteria in accordance with TCVN 7304‑1:2003.
The product has been registered for circulation with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, enabling wider application in livestock waste management.

Environmental and economic effectiveness
Evaluation of three on‑farm demonstration models showed that Han‑Compost accelerates the decomposition of organic matter, significantly reduces foul odors, inhibits pathogenic bacteria, and generates organic fertilizer that conforms to the national technical regulation QCVN 01‑189:2019.
The project also developed a user handbook guiding farmers in the correct application of the microbial preparation for treating solid livestock waste in Hung Yen province.
Assessment by the Acceptance Council
Council members and delegates agreed that the project’s activities and outputs fulfilled the objectives and contents specified in the approved proposal and contract.
In her concluding remarks, Ms. Nguyen Thai Kieu Ngan highly appreciated the responsibility of the Council members, the efforts of the research team, and the effective cooperation of the participating farms and households.
She requested that Hanvet Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. finalize the project’s final report and documentation in line with the Council’s comments and develop plans and solutions to apply the project’s results more broadly to livestock solid waste treatment in Hung Yen, thereby reducing environmental pollution and improving the efficiency of organic fertilizer production.
She also encouraged farm owners and livestock households to continue using microbial preparations and strictly follow technical procedures to improve economic and social effectiveness while mitigating environmental impacts from livestock production.
The Acceptance Council rated the project as “Pass.”
